Club Members

" I have been a club member for more than 15 years and I look forward to meeting my friends there on Wednesday evenings. I like drawing, painting, dancing and enjoy the keep fit exercise machines. We have plenty of paints, paper and coloured pens so I'm able to enjoy myself. Sometimes I make poster's and notices when we are having a fundraising event. I have been to Sri Lanka and New York. I go every year to France with some of the club volunteers on holiday, they always create a fun time for us."

" I like coming to Helping Hands Club, it gets me out in the evening. I like chatting to some of the volunteers, and there are a lots of things to do. I have learned to knit and I have made some nice bead bracelets. I also went on an Independent living skills weekend with the club. We had a great time learning to cook meals. I was one of the best cooks. We also learned about budgeting our money and some First Aid. I do not think I will ever live alone but is good to know how to do some things for yourself."

"It's a brilliant Club, our committee got some funding in 2010 to take a small group of us on an educational trip to Sri Lanka. I have been to France about three times for a holiday with the club. The volunteer team are really great, they really care about us. The club is important to me because I'm on the committee and I can give a voice for the club members. I feel like I'm really part of the team of volunteers.

I have been a member for about 20 years and I have introduced some of my friends to the club who love coming every Wednesday evening. I get to the club early every week so that I can get all the equipment out for the evening. I also organise a few of the club members to help to put everything away at the end of the evening."

"I like coming to Club as it is fun and the volunteers are always ready for a laugh. We have loads of equipment, table tennis, pool, Wii for playing bowling, and we have dance time. I like to lead the dancing. We have some nice kitchen ladies who make nice things for us to eat.

Every year we have a great Christmas party with presents. I met my best friend Derek on one of our holidays to France. He brings me to the club every Wednesday and takes me back to my home."
